Mohabbat by Arooj Aftab

If you don’t know experimental folk musician Arooj Aftab, start with “Mohabbat.” It’s a slow, gorgeous take on a classic ghazal (written by Hafeez Hoshiarpuri, famously sung by Mehdi Hassan) She ghosts it into this ambient-jazz hush, where note emotes.

Also if you care about that stuff: it won the Grammy for Best Global Music Performance (2022)(imo it’s one of those rare the-industry-got-it-right moments)
